Outreach by Belgian young scientists at the Museum of Natural Sciences

Dear reader,
On 1st December, Antarctica Day is taking place to remind of the signature of the Antarctic Treaty on that day in 1959. Belgian members of APECS (Association of Polar Early Career Scientists) have organised animations and workshops about Antarctic research in the Museum of Natural Sciences in Brussels.

Valentina, a MICROBIAN member, organized an animation about the diversity of cyanobacteria in the mountainous regions together with Benoit Durieu, a PhD student working of the genomes of Antarctic strains in the Centre for Protein Engineering in ULiège.

Beatriz Roncero-Ramos, a new MICROBIAN field expedition member is visiting the Antarctica exhibition, together with Annick Wilmotte and Benoit Durieu. It was very cold!😉

Exhibition 'ANTARCTICA' at the Museum of Natural Sciences in Brussels

Dear reader,
We guess that you are interested by the white continent, its biodiversity, its role, its protection. The exhibition 'Antarctica' that is presently organised by the Museum of Natural Sciences in Brussels will delight you!
"Antarctica is an immersive exhibition about the heart of the continent exclusively accessible to scientists and created by Luc Jacquet, the Oscar-winning director of March of the Penguins. Superb films are projected onto big screens, including a final 360 ° projection, while infographics about the lives of animals help you discover the fascinating world of land and marine biodiversity in the South Pole."
